NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller, who chairs the NATO delegation to Georgia, hopes that Georgia will become a NATO member one day.

"I am very proud of the efforts made by NATO and Georgia together, especially in terms of Georgia's aspirations to join NATO. Georgia will become a NATO member one day and I am looking forward to this day," Gottemoeller said after being awarded the Golden Fleece Order by Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.

“I want to thank Mrs Presidnet, I want to thank the Government of Georgia. I am honored to have such a prestigious Golden Fleece Order,” Georgia Today cited Gottemoeller as saying.

The NATO Deputy Secretary General also paid tribute to Georgian soldiers who died in the Afghan mission. "We truly pay tribute to their memory," Rose Gottemoeller noted.
