Border skirmish on Abkhaz-Georgian border

A border frontier division of the Russian Federal Security Services of the Republic of Abkhazia came under fire from unknown gunmen in the Gali region during a special operation. One border officer was killed as a result of the attack, ITAR-TASS reports.

The attackers were killed. According to the State Security Services of the Republic of Abkhazia, two of them were members of a subversive intelligence group of the Counter-Terrorism Center of the Georgian Interior Ministry, who were on the territory of Abkhazia with the purpose of intelligence activities, and possibly preparing acts of sabotage.
