Tusk: Turkey needs to end its operation in Syria
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaEuropean Council President Donald Tusk called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to pull his troops out of northern Syria.
He recalled that the European Union "is condemning Turkey’s invasion of northern Syria."
Tusk told EU lawmakers in Strasbourg that "no one is fooled by the so-called cease-fire" agreement made last week by the U.S. and Turkey.
According to the European Council President, Turkey, which is a candidate for EU membership, "needs to end its military action permanently, withdraw its forces and respect international humanitarian law," the AP reported.
Turks said that "any other course means unacceptable suffering, a victory for ISIS (the terrorist group banned in Russia), and a serious threat to European security."
