UN secretary general satisfied with settlement of Caucasus incidents

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon does not expect all security problems to be solved in the Trans-Caucasus at discussions in Geneva, but he is satisfied with the mechanisms of warning and the settlement of incidents in Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, he told RIA Novosti.

The discussions in Geneva have been held since October 2008, basing on agreements achieved by the presidents of Russia and France in South Ossetia in August 2008. Russia recognized independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia after the five-day war with Georgia.

The 15 rounds of talks have proven their fruitfulness, their chairman Anti Turunen will continue contributing to their development, Ban Ki-moon said.
