The main goal of the Azerbaijani Central Bank is to keep the inflation at a single-digit level in 2011, deputy head of the bank Aftandil Babayev said on Tuesday, Trend reports.

The prices for consumer goods and services in February 2011 rose by 2.2%, compared with January, and rose by 8.9% in January-February 2011, compared with the same period in 2010.

The prices for food products rose by 2.2%, non-food products — by 0.1%, services — 4.3%.

The food prices in January-February 2011 increased by 13.7%, non-food — 2.8%, services — 2%, compared with the same period in 2010.

Despite the 9% rise in prices for the consumer products in 2 months of 2011, a single-digit inflation level in Azerbaijan is a reality, Babayev said.

The goal will be achieved through coordination with all channels of the country“s economic policy.
