According to Armenia's State Revenue Committee that 3,496 tons of tomatoes were imported to Armenia in the first half of this year, while tomatoes imported in the same period last year amounted to only 20 tons.
The tomatoes were imported from Iran - 693 tons, from Georgia - 46.1 tons and 2,756 tons - from Turkey.
According to experts, tomatoes and potatoes are cultivated little in Armenia, because the farmers have a problem selling.
Moreover, 150 tons of potatoes were imported [to Armenia] even from Pakistan.
In the first six months of 2018, 1,941 tons of potatoes were imported to Armenia, and in the same period of this year - 4,041 tons, of which 471 tons from Belarus, 343 tons from Iran, 1,044 tons from the Netherlands, and 1,590 tons from Russia.
