Baku hosts 18th meeting of Russia-Azerbaijan intergovernmental economic commission

The 18th meeting of the Russia-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is being held in Baku today, the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza reported.

The meeting is attended by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Oreshkin, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, deputy ministers of all Azerbaijani ministries, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu and other senior officials.

Mustafayev said during the meeting that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia is constantly growing.  "The trade turnover reached 19% in 2018, while during the first ten months of this year it reached 23%," the deputy minister added.

"Some $4.9 billion was invested in Azerbaijan's economy by Russia. Azerbaijan invested $1.2 billion in Russia's economy," he said, noting good dynamics in the field of mutual investments between the two countries.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that there are currently 950 companies with Russian capital in Azerbaijan, which is 10% of companies with foreign capital.

Maksim Oreshkin, in turn, said that the relations between the two countries have switched to a new level.

The meeting was also addressed by Azerbaijan's Deputy Economy Minister Niyazi Safarov.

Earlier today, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Maxim Oreshkin.

Maksim Oreshkin also held a meeting with Shahin Mustafayev today. During the meeting, they have signed a program of cooperation cooperation in the agricultural sector for 2020-2022 and in tourism for 2020-2022. 

 

The Russian delegation then visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay tribute to Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame.

The 10th Russian-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum was held in Moscow on November 22-23. Its plenary session was chaired by the Russian Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko and Azerbaijani First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. The forum was also attended by Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Russian governors and heads of executive authority of Azerbaijani cities and regions, as well as businessmen from both countries.
