A militant group believed to be led by Doku Umarov was surrounded in Ingushetia“s Sunzhensky District on Monday but managed to escape, a source in the special services told RIA Novosti.

The group consisted of five people. It used weather conditions to escape. The area has seen heavy rain and fog.

Earlier reports said that Umarov may be among 19 militants killed in a special operation in Ingushetia on March 28. Anatoly Safonov, special presidential representative for foreign cooperation against terrorism and organized crime, said that he is more likely to be alive than dead.

There have already been a total of 8 reports on Umarov's death.

Secretary of Ingush Security Council Bekhan Antigov said on Thursday that measures to reveal militants are continued.
A militant group of 6 was found in Ingushetia on Monday morning, 3 km away from a village. One militant died in a shootout, and 3 were injured.

The killed militant had a passport of Ruslan Bikayev and a student's record book of the Moscow Medical Institute of Sechenov. Two more passports of Chechen citizens were found, belonging to Avdayev Shamkhan and Avdayev Shamir.

The secretary said that the militant group could have been near the camp in Alkun village, raided by air forces on March 28.
The camp near Alkun was training suicide-bombers. It was destroyed in an air attack, followed by a land operation.
