Armenia to regulate prices on agricultural commodities

An effective exploitation of pastures in Armenia will lower the prices for meat and milk, Agriculture Minister of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan said, ARKA reports.

The minister said there are 1 million 118 thousand hectares of pasture in Armenia, only 30% of which are effectively used.

Karapetyan said the new project involves development of pasture exploitation routes for livestock. In addition, pastures will be divided into parts which will be used alternately.

On March 23 the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank approved a loan of $16 million to Armenia for the program of “Management and competitiveness of the agricultural community resources”.
