Monument to Russian soldiers unveiled in Armenia

A memorial complex commemorating the Russian soldiers who died in the battle of Oshakan in 1827 in the course of the of the Russian-Persian war was opened today in Armenia as part of the first Armenian-Russian inter-regional forum, reports Novosti-Armenia.
Heads of the presidential administrations of Russian and Armenia - Sergey Naryshkin and Karen Karapetyan - laid flowers at the memorial.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the participants of the forum. The monument commemorating the  victory at Oshakan was first erected in 1833-1834. Restoration of the monument was initiated by Russian ambassador to Armenia, Vyacheslav Kovalenko.
