Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has officially opened a new Georgian-Turkish school in Batumi. He said efforts to reform the education system were continuing and the government was taking efficient steps to that end, Georgia Today reports.
According to Saakashvili, new schools are opening in Georgia and the buildings of old ones are being repaired. For example, a new school recently began work in Borjomi and construction of one in the village of Mleta will start soon.
Nearly 90 percent of schools in the country have already been renovated, with heating systems installed in most of them and gyms and sports grounds put in order.
The Georgian president emphasized that the government was paying great attention to infrastructure, because it is the basis for getting a good education.
"Developed infrastructure is essential for both teachers and students to feel good," Saakashvili said.
