Turkish Ministry of Defence to buy 109 U.S. helicopters

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has decided to purchase 109  T-70 Blackhawk helicopters, produced by the U.S. company Sikorsky. The contract is estimated to be worth $3.5 billion.

According to Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, the contract with Sikorsky will also contain an option to supply another 600 helicopters over the next ten years. The agreement with the U.S. company has not yet been signed, the parties are conducting pre-contract negotiations, reports Reuters.
