Kars starts taking down monument to Armenian-Turkish friendship

The Turkish city of Kars has started taking down the monument to Armenian-Turkish friendship. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had earlier described the monument as horrible, News.am reports.


The local public held protests against the initiative. Ex-governor of Erzincan Province Ilkhan Jihaner, ex-Mayor of Kars Naif Alibeiloglu, author of the sculpture Mehmed Aksoy and other officials took part in the protests.
