Two cases of anthrax registered in Kuban

Two women were hospitalized in Armavir in Krasnodar Territory on Friday. Medics confirmed the presence of anthrax, RIA Novosti cites Tatyana Shevyreva, head of the regional office of the Federal Service for Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare.

The head of the local Healthcare Department, Yelena Redko, said earlier that no anthrax had been registered.

The Investigation Committee said that the two women fell ill while carving meat.

Anthrax is a contagious disease, causing fever, lymphatic problems and intoxication. Animals catch the disease from physical contact.
