Azerbaijan to lift restriction of liberty as punishment

Restriction of liberty in Azerbaijan will removed from the Criminal Code, Trend reports.

The chairman of the parliament committee for legal policy and and urban planning, Ali Guseynli, said that such punishment promotes informal communication between the punished and the punisher.

It will be replaced with community work and fines. People who have been punished with restriction of liberty may request switching to an alternative punishment.

The Azerbaijani parliament is yet to consider the initiative.
