Iran, Turkey, Syria and Iraq to create their own "Schengen"

Iranian Deputy Minister of Tourism Shahbaz Yazdi said that Iran, Turkey, Syria and Iraq are preparing the creation of a one-visa zone, similar to that of Schengen, reports 1news.az citing FarsNews.
Jordan and Lebanon, which earlier expressed their desire to join this visa zone, later refused to participate. Yazdi said that the creation of a common visa space type was initiated by the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan.

“The appearance of these visas for the four states will considerably boost tourism development. The work on this project started last year and Foreign Consular committees of the four countries are currently working on it. The creation of a common visa space will play an important role in the development of cooperation between our countries," Shahbaz Yazdi said.
