Azerbaijan to introduce changes to history books

History books in Azerbaijani schools needs major adjustments, Elnur Aslanov, deputy head of the department for political analysis and information support of the Presidential Administration, said at public discussions of the youth program for 2011-2015, Trend reports.


Aslanov said that the Azerbaijani minister of education did the necessary work. Changes in the books will target youth, promoting good knowledge of national history and ideas. The books will promote pride in the country.


The official said that Azerbaijan has turned into a regional economic leader and may become a world leader, in terms of human potential.


Baku held talks on the state youth program for 2011-2015. Participants of the meeting discussed social protection of youth, employment and support of business, patriotic upbringing, development of creativity and the involvement of youth in administration.


Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on development of the youth program on April 6. His administration was ordered to prepare and present a project of the program within 2 months.
