Russian law-enforcers are searching for the terrorist leader, Doku Umarov, in Chechnya and Ingushetia. They believe that he may be hiding abroad, Chechen parliament spokesman Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov said, RIA Novosti reports.

He noted that other terrorists, such as Salman Raduyev and Shamil Basayev, used to visit foreign states.
Umarov may have been among the 19 militants killed on March 28 near the village of Verkhny Aul in the Sunzhen district of Ingushetia. They are being identified.

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said in mid-April that there are no significant facts of Umarov still being alive. A source told RIA Novosti that Umarov broke through with a terrorist group.

Ingush leader Yunus-bek Yevkurov said that DNA-testing has not confirmed Umarov to be among the dead militants.

Umarov was involved in numerous terrorist attacks. He took responsibility for the blast at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport in January, in which 37 people died.
