Police Day in Georgia

Georgia is marking Police Day. The day was set in 2010, Trend reports.

The previous Police Day was marked with a grand parade with the participation of President Mikheil Saakashvili and Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili.

The day coincides with the Day of Saint George. The opposition said that this coincidence shows disrespect for the church. Mass protests were held.

This year the police parade will be held in Batumi. Thousands of police officers will march. President Saakashvili is expected to attend it. No protests are planned this year.
