Chechen businessman purchases Swiss football club
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaChechen businessman Bulat Chagayev has confirmed his purchase of the Neuchatel Xamax Football Club, RIA Novosti reports.
Information on change of Xamax’s owner appeared in mid-April. President of the club Sylvio Bernasconi was searching for a purchaser. The club was purchased by Chagayev, who is also vice-president of Grozny’s Terek Football Club.
The businessman did not name the sum paid. He said that he may also purchase the Maladiere stadium.
Chagayev commented on his business, saying that he operates in construction, metal trading and development of land plots, but has never been involved in the oil and gas industries.
The businessman said that the purchase of the club is not money-laundering. Chagayev said that he has a house in Saint-Sulpice, however it belongs to his wife.

Tribune de Geneve report that the purchase of the club needs to be confirmed at a meeting of shareholders on May 12. Soviet and Russian player Andrei Rudakov is expected to be the club’s new president.
