The Victory of Spirit
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaSince the day of the Great Victory, sixty-five years have passed. Many things have changed since then, but one thing remains the same - the historical importance of the Great Victory. In three words we can describe the events of the Great Patriotic War - "Came. Saw. Fled.".
Enemies came to destroy and turn the peoples of a great country into slaves of the Third Reich. But they faced the unity of a multinational country, heroes who shared their last bullet, bread and drop of water sitting in entrenchments. They spoke different languages, some didn't speak Russian, but they had something in common - their Motherland, the land of their fathers. People went to the front and only victory was acceptable for them. Nowadays, some say that pathos is improper when honoring Heroes of the War. This is true, but in this respect we should better speak of pride.
Their victory was the victory of spiritual values over material ones. People strived to go to the front, no matter who they were - farmers, workers, or party officials. People sacrificed for victory everything they had and even more. It strengthened their spirit and made victory real. They fought for their Motherland. Maybe the Motherland is a place bathed with the blood of our fathers, and so a place for which we can sacrifice our lives. It is our duty today to establish peace on our land, so that nothing threatens our children.
