"According to the trilateral Statement signed by the Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, and the prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, units of the Azerbaijan Army entered the Kalbajar region on November 25," chief of the press service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense Colonel Vagif Dargahli said.
Engineering work has been completed to ensure the movement of Azerbaijani army units in this direction, the difficult mountain roads along the route of the troops' movement are being cleared of mines and prepared for use.
First video footage from the Kalbajar region liberated from the Armenian occupation was distributed by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
The Kalbajar region was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on April 3, 1993. 27 years later, on November 25, the area was liberated.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on a complete ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russian leader said the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides would remain on the positions they hold and Russian peacekeepers would be deployed to the region. Besides, Armenia and Azerbaijan should carry out the exchange of prisoners of war and the bodies of those killed. Aghdam region will be returned to Azerbaijan before November 20, Kelbajar region - before November 15, Lachin region - before December 1. Later, Baku gave Yerevan postponement for troops withdrawal from Kelbajar until November 25.
