Istanbul, a metropolis with a 15 million population, will have two more satellite-cities: one on the European coast of the Bosphorus and one on the Asian coast, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, RIA Novosti reports.

Erdogan also announced the construction of a 40-50 km canal to connect the Marmara and Black Seas.

The new cities will be seismologically resistant. Citizens from areas with high seismology risks will move to the two cities. About a million people will live in each of the new cities.
