Victory parade in Tskhinvali
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA parade in honor of the 65th anniversary of Victory Day has taken
place in Tskhinvali, "Res" news agency reports. The Supreme
Commander-in-Chief was not present, as he had been invited to the
parade in Moscow, so the parade was led by deputy defence minister
Ibrahim Gasseyev. He said that the heroic deeds of his compatriots is
"eternal and sacred".
"Over 100 thousand Ossetians fought in WW2. One in two did not return.
More than 20 thousand people volunteered for the front, that is every
fifth inhabitant" - he pointed out. 35 Ossetians were awarded the
honor of Hero of the Soviet Union. 9 became knights of the 'order of
Glory', 60 thousand others received various governmental awards.
He underlined that, at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the
Ossetian people had had to confront fascism again, this time from the
Georgian side.
