Azerbaijan to make traffic fine payment stricter

Azerbaijani drivers that do not pay fines on time will face harsher punishments. Parliament started talks on amendments to the law on traffic and the Code of Administrative Violations, Trend reports.

A fine must be paid in a bank within 30 days. 2% of the fine will be added if a driver fails to pay.

If a driver does not pay within 2 months, the court or the police may detain his vehicle. The vehicle will be taken to tow pound. Harsher measures will be taken if a driver fails to pay the fine within 3 months. He may lose driver’s license for 6 months.

Drivers who pay the fine within 3 days will receive a 10% discount.
