Russian natural gas holding Gazprom has extended the contract for the supply of gas to Armenia in the first quarter of 2021, according to Gazprom Export.

The contract was extended on December 30 by Gazprom Export LLC and Gazprom Armenia CJSC. The sides will continue consultations on gas supplies in the subsequent period, TASS reported.

On March 31, 2020, Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan on behalf of the Armenian government sent a letter to the head of the Gazprom holding Alexey Miller with a proposal to start negotiations on downward revision of the price of gas supplied to Armenia. The sides were also expected to discuss the issue of payment for gas in national currency.
