World Bank specialists arrive in Baku to develop security markets

A delegation headed by the leading specialist of the World Bank’s (WB)
financial sector, Michael Edwardson, arrived in Baku on May 10th,
1news.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani State Committee on Securities
(SCS). The visit ends on May 18th.


The committee plans to discuss with the WB specialists development of
cooperation on development of securities market of Azerbaijan and
preparation of a joint project ‘Modernization of the Capital Market’.


The project involves technical help for the SCS in organizing the
securities market, improvement of the operative infrastructure and
implementation of legislative reforms. Earlier, they agreed on
technical help in preparing the 'Strategy of Development of the
Azerbaijani Capital Market' as part of the WB’s 'First Initiative'
program.


Within the framework of the project, which will be realized in the
period April-June, the SCS and international experts will prepare a
medium-term program of measures within the Strategy of Development of
Azerbaijani Capital Market 2011-2015 and plans for its implementation.
The ‘Modernization of the Capital Market’ project will provide
technical help for implementing the strategy.
