The Vienna consultations on the Iranian nuclear deal showed that progress in this direction is possible, but Tehran does not see the need for direct contacts with the United States, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said.

The diplomat noted the need for the United States to return to compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), stressing that the situation is not easy now. "It seems that there are those in the current US administration who are much more committed to Trump's sanctions than to Obama's nuclear deal. In my opinion, this political decision should be made by US President Joe Biden," Khatibzadeh said, TASS reports.
