Russia will establish the Federal Service for Intellectual Property.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed the corresponding decree at
the commission for modernization today.

The new service will take up the responsibilities of the Russian
Patent Service and the Federal Agency for Legal Protection of
Intellectual Property.

The president ordered courts and expert societies to form a special
court for intellectual property in January, which will have
headquarters in Skolkovo.

Mikhail Lifshnits, Director for development of high-tech assets of
Renova and Chairman of the Board of Skolkovo, said that the initiative
concerns almost all participants of the Skolkovo project. Patent
issuing takes about two years. It is essential for the innovative
center.

President's Assistant Arkady Dvorkovich said that the G8 summit in
Douville on May 26-27 will consider internet problems for the first
time, especially in terms of protection of intellectual property.
