Baku to build stadium for 65,000 spectators

The construction of a stadium near the Azizbekov subway station will
start on June 6. It will hold 65,000 spectators, Trend cites Secretary
General of AFFA Elkhan Mamedov as saying.

The foundation of the stadium will mark the 100th anniversary of
Azerbaijani football. UEFA President Michel Platini and FIFA President
Sepp Blatter will arrive for the foundation ceremony.

An AFFA football center will open in the village of Mardakyan on June
6, Mamedov said. The anniversary will be concluded with a banquet at
the Buta Palace.

Officials of 35 federations, presidents of UEFA federations will
arrive. A logo of the women's world cup of age 17 will be presented.
Azerbaijan will host the cup in 2012.
