Tehran has dismissed reports that the Pakistani ambassador is in hospital after being attacked by an Afghan national, RIA Novosti reports, citing Iranian media.
On Wednesday, Western media reports said an unknown assailant had attempted to assassinate the Pakistani ambassador, wounding the diplomat. The reports said two more people were injured in the attack on the diplomat's car.
"To my regret, some news agencies carried dubious reports that harm their reputation. They are aimed at creating a negative atmosphere around Iran," an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

He added that while the attack had taken place, the assailant was unarmed and that the ambassador's injuries were minor. He also aid the attacker had been detained.
