Kazakh President Nazarbayev honored with title of Leader of Nation

The lower house of the Kazakh parliament unilaterally approved on Wednesday a series of amendments to the law honoring President Nursultan Nazarbayev with the title of Leader of the Nation, a VK correspondent reports.
The amendments, which still have to be approved by the upper house, also grant Nazarbayev life-long immunity from prosecution. Any falsification of his biography will be considered a criminal offence. Any attempt on his life will also be considered a terrorist act. The amendments were brought before parliament on May 5.
