Croatia’s Ivica Olic, who became the head coach of Russian Premier League’s (RPL) CSKA Moscow club in March 2021, resigned on Tuesday, the club’s press service said.

According to the statement, the sides decided to terminate their cooperation. Aleksey Berezutskiy will be the club’s interim head coach.

"I would like to take advantage of this opportunity and announce the termination of my work with CSKA," the club’s press service quoted Olic as saying. "Today, I arrived in Moscow and had a meeting with the club’s management. After that, the club decided to end cooperation. Different views about the first team’s work and future is the main reason."

"I regret this outcome, because I was preparing and looking forward to the new season with great enthusiasm," he said, also thanking the club and fans.

Olic, who played for CSKA between 2003 and 2006, became the club’s head coach in March 2021, replacing Viktor Goncharenko. During the past season, the club finished sixth in the Russian Premier League’s overall standings and will not take part in European cups for the first time in 20 years, TASS reported.
