Iranian diplomat accused of espionage leaves Egypt

Employee of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Cairo, Sayyid Qasim al-Husayni, whom Egyptian authorities accused of spying,  left Egypt today, RIA Novosti reported citing the official Egyptian agency MENA.

Al-Husseini flew home from Cairo Airport, accompanied by a group of Iranian diplomats.

On Saturday night it was reported that members of the General Intelligence of Egypt in Cairo had detained an Iranian diplomat. According to Egyptian intelligence, he created a spy network to collect the information of economic, political and military character about Egypt and Gulf countries. This information was then transferred to Tehran. It was also said that the Iranian diplomat used the recent unstable security situation in Egypt for his purposes.
