EU praises Armenia's 2010 economic policy

Armenia continues to carry out careful macroeconomic policies and
realize constructive measures to cope with the economic recession, the
National Report on Progress of Realizing the "European Neighborhood
Policy" for 2010 says, ARKA reports.


The action program was limited in economic reforms, coping with
poverty, social consolidation and environmental protection after the
crisis of 2009.


The EU and Armenia signed an agreement on providing financing of 100
million euros in November 2010.


Armenia achieved success in customs and border control, but needs
common progress in trade spheres, the report says.


There is concern around the Metsamor nuclear power plant in Armenia.
Shutting down the plant is a priority goal.


The EU gives a positive rating to Armenian-EU association and the
establishment of a free trade zone.
