Politkovskaya murder suspect detained in Chechnya

Police detained Rustam Mahmoudov, the suspected murderer of journalist
Anna Politkovskaya, on Tuesday in Chechnya, RIA Novosti reports.

Reports said that the suspect is being transported to Moscow.

Anna Politkovskaya was well-known for her work on human rights
violations in Chechnya. She was killed in an elevator at her house on
Lesnaya Str., 7, in Moscow on October 7 , 2006.

The Russian Investigation Committee has not commented on the detention
of Rustam Mahmoudov.
