Georgian parliament approves Freedom Charter

The Georgian Parliament has approved the Freedom Charter, which prohibits the use of Soviet symbols and strengthens anti-terrorism measures, RIA Novosti reports.

The Freedom Charter was proposed by member of parliament and head of the opposition "Strong Georgia" faction Giya Tortladze. The Freedom Charter consists of two documents entitled "On Disclosure of Personal Files" and "The Patriot Act".

According to the first document, former members of the Soviet special services are prohibited from serving as officials and Soviet symbols are forbidden. The second document is devoted mainly to the struggle against terrorism.
