Today's election rally of Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan in Hopa was blemished by protests that resulted in the death of one local resident and the injury of one of the prime minister’s bodyguards, Hurriyet Daily News reports.

The rally was attended by the Turkish prime minister immediately after his meeting with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Protests in Turkey are becoming more and more frequent as the country aproaches the parliamentary elections.
