An advisor to the president of Karachay-Cherkessia, Fral Shebzukhov,
was killed at 18.00 near Sredniaya and Lenin Streets in Cherkessk, RIA
Novosti
reports, citing the head of the investigation department of
the Russian Investigative Committee at the Public Prosecutor’s Office
(ICPPO) in the republic, Viacheslav Taranenko.

According to Taranenko, three masked men attacked Shebzukhov using
razor-like objects, then the advisor was shot after trying to escape.
The criminals escaped the scene using a passenger car without number
plates.

A criminal case was launched based on articles 105 (murder) and 222
(illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transport and carrying of
weapons) of the Russian criminal code, which can carry a sentence of
up to 20 and 6 years respectively.

Investigations at the scene are continuing and a forensic examination
has been appointed. One theory is that the case was a professional
job.
