Iran's Foreign Ministry has summoned Britain's charge d'affaires over the “unfounded” remarks of the British foreign secretary about Tehran's interference in Syria, Iranian news agency Press TV reports.
“The remarks of Britain's Foreign Secretary are completely unfounded and based on a series of lies,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry informed UK charge d'affaires Jane Marriott on Thursday.
“Britain's government is not qualified to make such comments about other countries because of [its] interfering measures and destructive role in the region's developments,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
Iran's Foreign Ministry also condemned the meddlesome comments by British officials about Iran's internal affairs, and criticized London's dual and contradictory approach toward the regional developments.
The British diplomat said that she would convey Iran's protests to the UK government.
