NATO Director General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that his organization
will continue its operation in Libya until three conditions are
fulfilled. NATO demands a stop to violence against peaceful citizens,
the return of Gaddafi’s forces to their locations and the lifting of
restrictions on humanitarian aid, RIA Novosti reports.

Rasmussen says that Muammar Gaddafi’s regime will fall. He disagreed
with claims that NATO is violating the UN resolution. The director
general underlined that air attacks do not target people.

Tripoli says that a son of Gaddadi and three of his grandsons –
four-month old Mastura, two-year old Said and three-year old Kartago -
died in an air raid on his residence on May 1.

Rasmussen said that he welcomes all political solutions to the conflict.
Russian Presidential Envoy to Africa Mikhail Margelov said that Russia
may present a road map for settling the conflict.

Libya has been struck by protests since mid-February. People have been
demanding the resignation of Muammar Gaddafi, who has been in power in
Libya for 40 years. The UN Security Council passed a resolution on
March 17, introducing a no-fly zone and an embargo on arms exports to
Libya. A military operation started in Libya on March 19. NATO took
full command of the operation within a few days. NATO prolonged the
operation by 90 days on June 1.
