Russian and Azerbaijani ties improve
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaA seminar on the 20th anniversary of independence of Azerbaijan was organized by the MSU and Vestnik Kavkaza in Moscow.
Professor Karpov, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, and Azerbaijani Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbulogly opened the meeting.
Azerbaijani MPs Rasim Musabekov and Ilham Mamedzade, director of the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law of the National Academy of Sciences, made speeches.
Alexey Vlasov, deputy dean of the History Faculty of the MSU and Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, was the moderator at the seminar.
Karpov noted that the policy of the History Faculty is aimed at improving ties between Russia and Azerbaijan.
Karpov was invited to the Heydar Aliyev Fund and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan in Baku in April. He visited the Icheri Sheher Museum, Devichyi Bashni Mounts. He had a meeting with the head of the MSU office in Azerbaijan Nargiz Hanym Pashayeva.
The Heydar Aliyev Fund and the History Faculty of the MSU held performances of an MSU creative group in May 2011. The group consisted of students and teachers. The group consisted of 23 people, who stayed in Baku for 4 days.
Assistant professor of the History Faculty Anna Talyzina thanked the Heydar Aliyev Fund for the invitation. The creativity group performed for 100 WWII veterans.
The Azerbaijani Ambassador Polad Bulbulogly described Azerbaijani achievements. He noted the contribution of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev to development of the country. The ambassador pointed out the contribution of Russia in settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law, Ilham Mamedzade, presented his reports on modernization and science goals of Azerbaijan. He noted that The Heydar Aliyev Fund in Russia supported organization of two seminars in Moscow and Baku on globalization and Russian-Azerbaijani ties.
Alexey Vlasov, head of the Center for Studies of the Post-Soviet Space, Stanivlav Chernyavsky, head of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the MGIMO, Alla Yazykova, head of the Center for Studies of the Mediterranean and Black Sea States ofr the Institute of Europe of the RAS, were experts at the meeting.
Ismail Agakishiyev, director of the Center for Caucasus Studies of the RSUH, spoke about development of new economic spheres of Azerbaijan. He noted that Azerbaijan is the economic leader of the South Caucasus. Russia and Turkey may contribute to its development, he said. Agakishiyev believes that the territorial conflict is beneficial for Armenia. Trans-Caucasus is a homeland for Armenians, unlike other communitieis that have been living in Europe and USA for over 100 years.
