Zelensky calls on US Senate to support sanctions against Nord Stream 2

Kiev is calling on the US Senate to support the Nord Stream 2 sanctions law, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday.

“Ukraine asks all our friends in the US Senate to support the law to protect the European energy security,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy twitted.

The Hill newspaper previously reported that US Senators will vote on sanctions against the pipeline in January. The legislation proposes to impose sanctions related to the construction of Nord Stream 2. According to the newspaper, the voting will take place on January 14. For the document to pass, it must be approved by 60 senators.
