On Saturday, the head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev said that the Kyrgyz side wants to resolve border conflicts with Tajikistan in a peaceful manner.

"We want a peaceful resolution of the border issue," the Kabar news agency quotes him. Tashiev added that the parties would resolve "the issue of borders in a compromise for both countries." He pointed out that "the issue won't be resolved only in favor of Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan".

"There are many questions on such areas as Kulundu, Maksat, Arka, Internatsional, Borborduk, etc. When we resolve them, we will return to addressing the border issues [in the area of settlements] Kok-Terek, Orto Boz, Tash Tumshuk, Samonon. Until we deal with these issues, such conflicts, in which people suffer and the state bears losses, will be taking place", the head of the State Committee for National Security stated.

The last conflict on the border between the two countries took place on 27 January. The situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border has now been stabilized.
