United Russia chooses date of congress

The leader of the United Russia party, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin,
has proposed holding a congress in early September, Gazeta. Ru
reports.

Putin made a statement about the congress at the Coordinating Council
of the All-Russia Popular Front, which discussed the rules for
primaries which will result in a list of candidates from United Russia
in the elections. The primaries will be attended by members of the
ARPF.

According to a forecast prepared by the head of the Central Executive
Committee of the United Russia, Andrei Vorobyov, about 25% of the
members of the Popular Front will take part in the primaries. As a
result of them, a list of 600 candidates will be generated, 150 of

whom will be representatives of the ARPF at the elections. The list
will be approved at the party congress in September, Lenta.Ru reports.
