Kokoity calls on South Ossetia to refuse to support his third presidential term

South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity, addressing the people and
Parliament of South Ossetia, asked them to refrain from supporting him
as a presidential candidate for a third term, Yuga.ru reports.

"If we want us and our young republic to be treated with respect, and
to make our recognition process irreversible, we must prove to the
world that we are already a free and democratic state" Kokoity said.

Kokoity’s statement was issued in connection with an incident
yesterday. The initiators of an action in support of Kokoity’s third
presidential terms tried to pressure the deputies of the South
Ossetian parliament to make changes to the existing constitution of
South Ossetia, allowing a third presidential term.
