Russian State Duma ratifies agreement with Azerbaijan on state borders

Russian State Duma has ratified the agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia on the state borders, Trend cites the official website of the State Duma.

This issue was discussed at today's plenary session. In the discussions, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Grigory Karasin, delivered a report. Closing remarks were made by the chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots, Alexey Ostrovsky.

The agreement was signed in Baku on September 3, 2010.

Russia is the first country with which Azerbaijan has signed an agreement on the state border. Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry once again confirmed that at present Russia and Azerbaijan do not have territorial claims.

The land border between Russia and Azerbaijan is 284 km. The total length of the Russian state border is about 60,000 kilometers.
