ASEAN calls for ceasefire in Ukraine

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is ready to promote a peaceful dialogue between all the parties to the conflict in Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the foreign ministers of the countries of the organization.

ASEAN believes that "there is still room for peaceful dialogue in order to prevent the situation from getting out of control and to put an end to the increase in casualties among both the military and the civilian population".

"The ASEAN foreign ministers are deeply concerned about the escalation of the situation and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine. Therefore, we call for an immediate ceasefire or truce and allow further political discussions that will lead to a lasting peace in Ukraine", the statement said.
