NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance has significantly increased its presence on the eastern borders.

"130 aircraft and more than 200 ships from the high polar latitudes to the Mediterranean are now on high alert," he said, Interfax reports.

"Thousands of military personnel are additionally stationed in the region," he added during a speech at a joint press conference with Latvian President Egils Levits.
