Football fans to stop boycotting Caucasian teams
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe council of football fans of the Russian Ministry of Sports,
Tourism and Youth Policy has been boycotting matches of its teams in
the North Caucasus, Championat.com reports.
Football fans and football club authorities were requested to take
measures to lift the boycott.
The Lokomotiv fan club urged fans to ignore matches against Caucasian
teams. The problems started at the match with Anzhi. The guest sector
had the flag of Ichkeria, an illegal formation that holds an
anti-Russian policy with its leaders being compared to terrorists. The
head of the Dagestani team, Shamil Lakhiyalov, made an offensive
gesture. The gestures were later demonstrated on a video to the
director for security of the Russian Football League Alexander,
Meytin, without eliciting a response.
